About the Event
When Ed O'Neal's farm originally was brought into grazing land, it was overgrown scrub timber land with little grass and no clover. Now, in its 3rd year in the NRCS-funded research program, "Impacts of Rotational Grazing on Forage Production and Soil Health," it is a well-established pastureland, with associated wildlife areas.
Waterers are in place, and cross-fencing is still underway. Ed has gone from worrying about having grass for his cattle, to worrying about “pasture bloat” with all the clovers.
If you desire to see what kind of improvements can be made in cut-over timber land, turning it into productive pasture lands, this is a pasture walk that should interest you.
