Basile, 160 Shady Oaks Ln, Basile, LA 70515, USA

About the Event

Come out to the farm for a 10:00 start time.

We'll begin the day with a large rainfall simulator demonstrating the importance of keeping the soil covered and hear an overview of the story of the host farm.

We'll study a soil core sample, and be explained about that by a soil scientist.

We'll have some hair sheep and goats, bees, moveable chicken coops, heavy equipment, and even a Whitey Tightey soil demonstration (come see to know what that is!)  We'll learn about bees, composting, earthworms, erosion, native plants, rotational grazing, and lots more.

Come join us for 10:00 that Saturday to move around the interactive, family-friendly stations, learn, eat, and enjoy.

Live music by Alphonse Ardoin and the Zydeco Kinds, and free hambuger lunch with hamburgers provided by Eunice Superette.

Co-Hosted by Southwest Soil and Water Conservation District and Louisiana Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative, hosted graciosly by SD Farms.
