About the Event
Tom and Joan Lester have raised cattle for four years in DeRidder, LA. On June 2nd they are hosting a pasture walk at their farm to discuss how they’ve made it in the cattle business. They will discuss the forage choices they have made, how they manage pasture rotation in both summer and winter, the experiences they’ve had with summer legumes and what they have learned in their short time with a cow-calf herd. Tom will also showcase Calcasieu Soil and Water Conservation District’s new no-till drill used in planting forages that benefit soil health. Roundstone Native Seed will also be providing valuable information about native seed plantings.
