About the Event

Daniel Salatin of Polyface Farms is the son of famous advocate and self-proclaimed “lunatic” farmer Joel Salatin. He manages day-to-day operations at Polyface. For the fourth year, Local Cooling Farms will host Daniel Salatin of Polyface Farms in Virginia. This year, we are also offering a second workshop at Sample Farms in Shreveport, La. In these day-long seminas, Daniel and experienced producers will speak on soil health improvement via rotational grazing, soil health improvement via application of on farm generated compost, plant diversity in pasture, leasing land, portable infrastructure and much more. The goal of the seminar is to help Louisiana farmers and property owners build healthy farms of the future that have both pastures and profits. Grant Estrade will also add to Daniel’s presentation with discussion of on-farm composting techniques and nutrient cycling.

Registration is $55 per day and lunch is included. To pay by check, make it out to LGLCI and send to address 1103 E. Main St. New Roads, LA 70760. You can also pay online. Same material taught both days.
